Building

Located at Fernwood Business Park just south of Newark, the 830-place school—including sixth form provision for 230 students—benefits from the excellent transport links and infrastructure currently in place as part of the new housing developments in the area. The school has a dedicated bus drop-off point and staff parking on site, ensuring safe access to the school site for road users. A dedicated pedestrian arrival space and bike parking ensures that the school offers greener transport options for all users of the site.

The school offers two full-size football pitches and two Multi-Use Games Areas for external sporting activities. A landscaped courtyard within a sheltered quadrangle provides surfaced spaces for pupils during inclement weather.

Designed for 600 11–16 aged pupils with additional sixth form provision for 230 students, the 830-place school has been created to provide a balanced suite of subjects with a focus on an academic curriculum supported by creative-, sports- and design-based complimentary subjects.

Educational Facilities and Community Use

From the double height entrance, through the open dining space (the ‘Refectory’) to the courtyard, the school has been developed to provide a sense of openness and welcome.

On the ground floor, an auditorium equipped with tiered seating and theatrical lighting compliments the Drama and Music teaching spaces. Art, Design and Technology and Food Technology are also grouped on this floor along with changing rooms, sports hall and activity studio. With a dedicated community entrance, these exciting new facilities are available to the local community after school hours, providing a new resource for sport, leisure and life-long learning.

On the first floor, the post-16 study and social areas are located close to the school library—a space reimagined for the 21st century, where the printed word compliments all the advantages of digital resources. English and Mathematics are also accommodated on this floor, served by three computer suites providing generous ICT facilities.

On the second floor, six Science labs are served by the Science Preparation Room and Humanities and Modern Foreign Language classrooms complete the accommodation.
