Within these broad thematic contexts, students will use specified vocabulary and grammar to listen to, read, speak and write about the following subjects in French:
Throughout the course, students gain systematic knowledge of the three pillars of language learning: phonics (sound and spelling systems), grammar and vocabulary in order to build competency in French.

There are many reasons for studying languages at GCSE. Learning a foreign language is a life-long skill. You will be able to share your interests, ideas and opinions with other people who speak French across the world. With 300 million speakers, French is the world’s fifth-most spoken language in the world.
You will add an international dimension to your choice of GCSE subjects and learn many transferable skills which are useful for studying and in a wide range of future careers. Through your French studies, you will broaden your horizons and develop a better understanding of different cultures.
